It's a decent AV product. The system impact's pretty light, and it's ok at detection rates. I did note an issue a while back where it breaks the ability of XP to access files in a Server 2012 deduplicated volume, but otherwise, it hasn't been invasive.

Did I read somewhere that Vipre is also offered with GFI Max?

Yes. It is built in. Viper is a division of GFI.

Vipre is owned by ThreatTrack Security now. I never checked if that is just a spin off or what.. but it is still part of the GFI suite.

It's its own company again. It's still used in GFI's suites of products.

Comes with GFI Max or is it an up-sell?

Both GFI Cloud and GFI MAX offer features a la carte, so everything's technically an up-sell.

@alexntg Thanks, I really need to take a look at all the up-sell options. I did see something about GFI Max keeping track of O365 user accounts I resell.

Before making a purchase decision, you may want to also evaluate Webroot.

Definitely do this. I have Vipre in every client where I manage the AV solution. But that is no longer a given. Webroot is up for consideration at each client when the current contracts end. Between the two, there is really nothing else that even competes.

Sure we will try this today 🙂
