You are mixing things up again. That is UniFi, not EdgeSwitch.

I REALLY want them to bring out a Unifi non POE switch.
How can I justify a £300-£400 price increase for a feature they just won't ever use or need?
Yes we have the edgeswitch but then you lose the reporting and central controller concept.

You are mixing things up again. That is UniFi, not EdgeSwitch.
That's why I said it was "a little more expensive" I changed from the Edge to Unifi.

Wonder why they went away from the POE/POE+ standard. Are you stuck using their poe injectors and switches or are there other vendors that use this standard?

I would guess any POE injector would work for the AP's. But you're probably losing some functionality.

I think @scottalanmiller or @JaredBusch mentioned in a past thread that the 24v standard is used most in the WISP and antenna arena. So it was probably something they were familiar with/had the parts for.

This is correct. This 24V passive PoE is nothing new. the WISP market used it for years to power devices before the current standards were ratified. Cisco also has a pre-standards PoE protocol.

Does the WISP market still use 24V passive PoE currently use it or have they moved away from it?
