Everyone gets the EDL? That hasn't been my experience. I wonder if there are any stats on that. But yes, NYers who opt for the standard will need a passport to fly. I think NYS should get rid of the standard license and just issue the EDL.

Everyone I know that would ever get on a plane has one. I see no problem with the dual system now, everyone has the EDL option. It's your own fault if you opt to not have one. How silly to live in NY and not get the EDL.

The passport will only be required if you want to go to a country other than Canada (AFAIK)
No, it's all flights as the NY non-EDL will not qualify for flight check.

I just carry my passport with me. Not worth the extra cost of the EDL when I have to have a passport too.
