MS's new model, monthly charges for everything... they are starting to nickle and dime us to death.
Is that true? Are they really nickel and diming? Do you either pay more than before or do you pay for more things? We sure don't. Less, actually. Fewer payments, less total. I don't see any nickel and diming, only logical, effective subscription charges that are anything but nickel and diming, more and more things are inclusive.
Yes it's true, I now have to upgrade to Enterprise if I want to keep the MS advertising arm at bay - I consider this a nickle and a dime. We've never had advertising before in an OS from MS (that I'm aware of), and now we do, everything from Office to full blown games. At least in the past, the games weren't front and center, now they smack you across the face.
Please, Please PLEASE tell me why this is needed to be the Pro version of Windows? You want to do that shit in the Home edition, fine - but the pro? Again, just more forcing/pushing people to the Enterprise edition.

By advertising, do you mean Store apps that show up in the menu?

yes

Ah ha. I see. I am seeing those now. I was unsure what you were describing. I thought that that crap was installed and bloatware.
-
yeah, it's not really installed, it's tags into the Windows Store so you CAN install it - but come on, is there really that much of a difference?
I did say Ads, not malware... so it's not crap crapping up your system... it's an ad, more like an ad in the newspaper, expect this ad makes it SUPER easy for you to click and then install it if you want.

But it is in the MENU.

And?

The one and only VM that runs Windows 10 here killed it's own boot sector in the update. Made for some bad days.... the rest of the data is fine, just to confuse me. Did it every time I tried to update the system

It was ProxMox, it now has nothing but backups on it, so it's getting ported to XenServer7. Just tired of dealing with the weird stuff that happens with that base. Was put in not long before XenServer went open source, when else.

Like the steady stream of pimientos knocking at your door?

Had an issue on an upgraded machine.
Did the upgrade to a sample user this morning after making an image of her machine.
IE of course was gone from being pinned to the start bar (WTF MS). but worse, the favorites didn't work.
Resetting the browser (gear icon in toolbar > Internet options > Advanced > reset browser > reboot) fixed this problem.

OK continuing from the other thread
You can't merge? Yeah I'm part of several PHPBB sites and they merge threads pretty regularly.

@JaredBusch I would guess that it is a pretty hard thing to get right.

Skype Build 7.26.80.101 Crashes under Win10 Anniversary Update
My biggest gripe with Win10AU is that Skype crashes about 12 times a day. I tried Skype Preview,.. didn't like that either. I've ensured that Skype was updated, and have even gone back about 4 versions... didn't help.
Still checking on updates forWin10AU, as i know there are issues with it breaking webcams.

Skype Preview has been pretty rough, I hear. Nowhere nearly as good as Skype for Linux Alpha.

Skype Preview wasn't working well enough so I removed it. This is the 'full version' of Skype.

that breaking of webcams is going to keep me from rolling it out for a while on most machines.
