What Are You Doing Right Now

Just took a look at documentation for theopenem.com. Open source, but servers only run on Windows Server I'm not paying that kind of licensing for my lab!
-
After many postponements, it looks like we are actually going back into the office on Monday. Monday and Friday, 8-5 for everyone. Which won't last long I hope.
-
Heading out to the beach to party!!

Fumble fingered that one, fixed it now.
Requires 3 Windows servers to run, forget that.

Lame. And tells you a LOT about the skills (or concerns) of the developers. That tells you that they had no concern about this actually being used in a production environment. Not because it is Windows, but because it is written specifically to a single OS base rather than generically. The level of ineptitude necessary for that to happen, the total disregard for the user at the end of the day means they never took one second to consider best practices, standard practices, or the purpose of the software. They never thought that someone might use it.

Is this their website?

No, this one https://theopenem.com/.
-
@travisdh1 ah, that looks better. What features does it offer? Their website is pretty scant on details that would make me interested. Including how the communications happens (can we host remotely) and what it does that non-Windows tools don't already do with more maturity (and lower cost.)

Word around the campfire is that nobody really wants to go back. But I heard the owner complaining about working from home, so we're kinda screwed for now.

I'm glad it's just 2 days a week, plus I have a big DR system deployment on my plate. That will have me at the data center on and off, which is preferable.

I honestly don't know. Someone had mentioned it here on Mangolassi a while back, and I figured I'd take a look at it the other day. I took a look, and dropped it like a hot potato,

hello everyone. beautiful weather over the weekend.
Q: if you drive at the speed of light and turn your headlights on, does it make any difference?
.. an old Steven Wright joke.

Well that's good to know. It does have some promise, but the "feature" list makes it sound like it is competing with the RMM solutions (Tactical, in my case) rather than doing something more. It's architecture and tech and lack of documentation aren't encouraging points. Could be interesting, in theory, but looking at their site it felt like it was a solution in search of a problem. It doesn't solve the inherent issues of Microsoft's own solutions (that they are MS only and require MS licensing) nor does it add something on top to make it worthwhile above and beyond. Of maybe it does, their site has very few details.

What is everyone up to this morning? We have cloud cover here in Leon and it feels great.

Conversation with one of the corporate office employees this morning While getting coffee;
Me : on my phone looking at emails from the weekend "oh sorry, catching up on emails, i'll get out of the way.
Her: "you dont check your email over the weekend? "
me: "not since we moved to the clock in clock out system."shrugs " I shut off notifications for my work email.."
Her:"oh, i guess that makes sense.. well have a good day." -

that was the point i was trying to make to her during that conversation . if i was paid more and on salary, than I would be more keen to look.
Truth be told I check the work email once a day on the weekends just to be sure I didn't miss anything important that needs to be passed on to the Emergency On Call guy .
