What Are You Doing Right Now

Waiting on my CIO to bring me a thin client to test out with our VDI setup.
I'd like to know how well flash based pages work on it. I've never had anything but problems with Flash based pages. And sure, while they are going away, they are definitely not gone yet.

I find that if you don't install Flash, they work great everywhere

LOL - assuming you can live in that world, I completely agree with you!!

Right now, we're using whatever the browsers support out of the box. Sadly, this does include Flash for Chrome and Internet Explorer. I am unsure about Firefox, as I don't have that in the live image yet.
But I'm done today... Tomorrow's Schedule includes figuring out why slightly older programs that work in Windows 7 don't work in Windows 8.1, lol... Which usually leads up to ACT hacks or either software updates.

It just hit 30c in the office and I have retreated to the AC'd server room with my laptop. Do not tell my co-workers or there will be a riot.
-
Why is it so warm? AC broken?
-
@mlnews No one here puts AC in anything but a luxury home or a server closet

NBC news just announced that thanks to Change.org (WOOT!!!) Donald Trump is fired from Celebrity Apprentice. We are very proud of these little victories.

Grr, I damn well hate the auto sensing country code that websites use. Can you all get with the program and do more than just look at my f'n IP address?
My PC regional settings are US. My current IP is in Japan. So all my default sites are now Japan. I do not want this. For a 2 week location, changing this stuff is a pain in the ass.
Examples:
google.com
-
Google is slipping... shouldn't that say "I'm feeling rucky"?
-
Just had to explain how num-lock works to someone...

Boy you can say that again!

And the hell continues.

We know what doesn't work,... now - let's find what will.

@Minion-Queen Yawl still working on that dead HP?

In a sense - the HP is actually running. While two drives did fail,.. the MOBO replacement took and it fired right up.
-
That IP sensing stuff is terrible. My Mac will randomly change time zones, GOG charges me in Krone, sites aren't available in English, search data is wrong.... it's amazing how much it screws everything up.
-
This is why I like having a desktop in my home locale that I can remote into when ineeed to search for stuff.

You can use a service like Hola now too.
-
I generally don't like using a service I can't control... I'll make an exception for some things, though... ie: Gmail, that type of stuff... I do, however, have the skillset to run my own email server (just for myself) and have considered doing so (again) on several occasions.
Seems like I remmeber reading somewhere just this morning (maybe it was over on SW that Holasoft pretty much turns your computer in toa Tor Exit node... I'll see if I can find it again.
(history search FTW.... Link is https://www.reddit.com/r/privacy/comments/1qnphj/psa_if_youre_uncomfortable_running_a_tor_exit/)
