I have a question I want to pose to all of you. I am getting ready to go on vacation with the family. I like to have pictures but I don't like having my phone out and I am just never impressed with my pictures from my phone. Am I the only one that likes to have a dedicated point and shoot camera to take pictures with, especially on vacation?
I like my SLR and my dSLR... but there are things they don't do that my cell phone does. Like Slow motion, panoramics and a few minor other things.
Not to mention that some times you want to shoot video then stills. or in the case of this phone,.. burst photos... which is kind of neat.
that said,.. I can get closer with my dSLR, and if I got the lens,... much much farther as well. But sometimes.. carrying a full body camera is a pain. cell phone fits in the pocket... nothing to 'manage'

Ehh, about typical. When you're the only IT person in the entire facility, it comes with the job, along with ~200 computers and keeping production going.

Whoever thinks usb thumb drives for os a good idea, it is not, especially for important things. Had one of these fail today in a storage server. Replaced it with a spare hdd i had. Lost no data but had to recreate iscsi target, and the affected vms i had to reattach the new disks to existing vms from new SR, then go through pain of md resync. All good now though.
Never understood why this is so popular, thumb drives in my experience have never ever lasted five years of expected server life.
If i had been around when this server was purchased id have gone without usb thumb drive.In some cases they have their place. everything has a failure point... some less than others. That old addage - MTBF - Mean Time Between Failure - It's really never about if it will fail,.. but when.
I'm not a fan of servers running the OS on thumb drives,.. but the use cases I have I don't see issue with. Installers, tools to save the os or files, Multi-booting just to experiment with different things.
But - running full on systems from them - can be a tad concerning. I know people do just that. and I guess they are cheap - so why not.

That was me yesterday... I should have used the bigger paddles. I wound up burning half a sick day and crashing almost as soon as I got through the doors of my house. (I managed to make it to the couch, at least!)

Yeah, I'm in good shape today. I was up from 8am Tuesday morning to about 10am Wed. afternoon (couldn't sleep for some reason). It caught up with me, lol.
