Single digit humidity, strong winds... our area is under an extreme fire risk.
      Preparing a bit for just-in-case.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PST SATURDAY FOR
STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY...

      • TIMING...Through Saturday evening, with the strongest and most
widespread winds expected late tonight through Thursday.

      • WINDS...Areas of northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60
mph. Isolated gusts of 80 mph or more are likely late tonight
through Thursday in some remote canyon and foothill locations.

      • MINIMUM HUMIDITY...5 percent with very poor overnight
        recovery.

      • LOCATION...Strongest wind gusts will be along and below coastal
mountain slopes and below passes and canyons. Some damaging
gusts may surface onto the valley floors several miles downwind
        of the foothills Thursday morning.

      • OUTLOOK...Offshore flow will continue early next week with low
        humidity, but generally lighter winds.

      • IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly and be
very difficult to control. Avoid any activities that could
        spark a fire!

      PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
      contribute to extreme fire behavior.

        What area, @Tim_G ?

Middle GA here, and we're just getting wet & cold right now.

California would be my guess, they have a Purple level alert for fires that was recently activated. First time ever for the state too.

Extremely high risk of fires, and very little chance to contain any if they start.

The state looks like hell does (or I imagine so). The amount of stuff that is on fire is insane.

Cold and damp in Dallas today. Hovering just above freezing. Got my fleece on, had to close the window in my office, and drinking my coffee.

Well, Perry, GA is pretty close to the geographic center of the state. However, for folks who grew up north of I-20, then anything south of I-20 is considered "South Georgia." For folks who grew up south of I-20, they (rightfully) know that south of I-16 is really South Georgia.

Middle GA here, and we're just getting wet & cold right now.

Real Middle GA, or just south of I-20? 😛

Slightly north east of dead center of the state, lol.

Yeah. South GA 😉 Almost deep south (south of I-16).

My first year of teaching was in Mount Vernon, GA 😄

Pretend Middle GA I take it. LOL

Well, Perry, GA is pretty close to the geographic center of the state. However, for folks who grew up north of I-20, then anything south of I-20 is considered "South Georgia." For folks who grew up south of I-20, they (rightfully) know that south of I-16 is really South Georgia.

I grew up in Dublin -- I-16 runs just past us. 😄

Cold and damp in Dallas today. Hovering just above freezing. Got my fleece on, had to close the window in my office, and drinking my coffee.

That is a perfect day. I would however leave the window open.

@dafyre Nice. That year I taught in Montgomery County, I determined it was shorter for me to drive to Dublin to get to a Toyota place for my car than to drive to Savannah. Insignificant I know, but coming from the Athens area, it was a bit of a shock.

ROFL. Yeah. Depending on how long ago that was, there was probably 2 Toyota joints (or three if it was more recent).
