What Are You Doing Right Now

@Minion-Queen You feeling better? We need to skype this weekend!
-
@Bob-Beatty I can do that. I am slowly on the mend.

Reading posts of people jumping ship from a huge community. WTH?
It's an end of a era it seems

Hoping to get tons done this morning so I can take the afternoon off. I doubt that will happen, but I can dream!
Ha, I wish.

Yeah I don't see it happening. I may take "off" from NTG work and just focus on GroveSocial/Mango stuff all afternoon. Things are hopping for me there!

Clearly something is changing. Status quo is going to remain, that much is clear.

Yea, but I don't think that community is going anywhere - as well as the annual conference. Here is what will happen: They will be sold within 2 years to a giant (HP is my guess) and it will carry on as a free program for a while, until... who knows...

I guarantee that won't happen. Large vendors like HP don't have any interest in SMB software nor in online communities. Finding a single, large buyer that isn't an investment group really isn't an option. Finding lots of small investors to buy stock is one thing, finding a single buyer who gets access to the "under the hood details" before a purchase is another.
-
@scottalanmiller I was thinking a giant would buy them and dismantle it - access to 6 million users for marketing, development, etc...
-
I sense a disturbance in the force...
-
Oh, I see.
I guess that's a good reason not to have a secret shower room. -

Looks like I need to start looking into new helpdesk software...

Call the local panel beater. I don't think this will buff out.

I don't think it will be sold to HP or anything big.. but it feels more and more like a magazine/newspaper site than anything besides the fact that a lot of it's being more consumerized anyway.

It's a decent software feature wise, but it is one of the most bloated & resource hog of a software I've seen. It's worse than Adobe products.
You might look at service desk but, it is much more of a complicated system http://www.manageengine.com/products/service-desk/

I have a Request Tracker system built and running for our engineering team. That has been working well for that. May look into it for helpdesk usages as well.

Reading one odd question: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/826293-do-smbs-prefer-turnkey-solutions-or-custom-solutions?page=1

@thecreativeone91 that is rather odd. Definitely someone who doesn't understand how IT works and is very confused.
