New ad-hoc project: Learn how to create scheduled tasks in Powershell.
- Write and debug your script. Make sure there is nothing wrong with it.
- Store it in a place that it is easy for you to get to, such as C:\scripts\powershell.ps1
- Go to Task Scheduler and schedule your task
- Go to a folder, such as Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows.
- Right-click and select "Create New Task".
- Go to the "Actions" tab and select "New..."
- "Program/script:" = "powershell.exe"
- "Add arguments (optional):" = the path to your script.
- OK
- Setup your triggers -> OK.
- Profit!
Heh. This is in response to me discovering that the various tasks in question exist solely within the Task Scheduler GUI. So if the server blew up, they're gone (despite a script exists to configure a new server, except the tasks). My goal is to the tasks to the build script.
How about have the script available to you on the network somewhere, run
invoke-command -ComputerName <TargetServer> -ScriptBlock <script>

Next task, getting my new desktop built and ready to go. I have no idea what hardware it even has. Oh, and have to set up my office phone.
You have a office phone . . . and a "proper" office?
I have a full office, fully dedicated one. And a proper Yealink office phone.
Which phone? Hope it is not one of the old T3X series. I hated those things.. Always so slow to respond to initial button press.
And get yourself a Plantronics CS540 or similar DECT headset. I cannot live without mine.

That is intentional. You call them now to prepare for a holiday.

Also, that ad came out before Easter.

Just installed Fedora Cinnamon Desktop on my laptop. So smooth and speedy.
What's good on Fedora... KVM, VirtualBox, ?

My first choice is KVM, since you have a desktop running use virt-manager to control the things. VirtualBox still works in a pinch.

I agree, KVM. I started on VirtualBox and switched. KVM was better.

Making an attempt at an openSuse Tumbleweed install.

@scottalanmiller Dont you need to load specific driver modules for Suse? I tried this the other week on a laptop and didnt know what wireless module to use for my hardware. Ended up with no wifi, and shortly after that a NIFO.

Depends on the hardware. I'm finding out now for this desktop.

Cool it's already there on a default install. Just need to update it.

Rumour is that the US is going to do the same cabin laptop ban from Europe that some ME countries had last month. This will affect a lot more people in a lot more places, though. Including all of the companies coming to VeeamOn.
