Power was out all morning. Just came one. Roommate had neglected to pay the power bills while we were gone. Argh.
Not cool. I'm sure it's getting pretty warm there like it is here, need power for A/C.
The AC is my new place is fantastic. Loving it
Lucky so and so. I have a split level house with an AC unit that was never actually big enough to cool the house. So I have portables.
Did someone from up north build that house? It's Atlanta for crying out loud, you need big AC units and little heaters, not the big heaters and little AC we have up here.
That's a good theory. The unit is big enough for the square footage, but only if it were a single level. Cheap bastards.
Designing cooling to work correctly is definitely an art form. My current office building is horrible. It's just bad.
My house is a two story house, and it's better than my office, but really should be a two system house, one for the second story, and one for the main/basement area. Sadly, this home builder didn't offer that expensive option in any of their homes.
I really hope I can put in a bigger unit outside without having to do a bunch of modification inside. I think the blower will handle the next size up though.
Hearing from AC pros - you can't just put a bigger compressor, etc into a system. If the vent sizes aren't right, you just end up freezing your A-frame and then the whole thing is worthless.
-
I recall someone mentioning about individual ACs per room in the past. I wonder if that has any real value? Especially if they can share a single compression coil, but that might not be worthwhile because of distances.

Our drummer does commercial HVAC, he was the one who told me I could probably upsize. I think what I have is small for the blower/vent setup. But I'll still consult a pro before replacing anything.

I have a lot of friends that do a lot of stuff like this. When I'm a home owner I imagine I'll be trading services with them a lot

It is handy to know people you can barter with.

Have not gotten muted in a while.. But likely because I rarely post outside of the VoIP forum.

Welcome to @scottalanmiller 's and my life.

Can't have anyone actually be helpful.
-
I'm only trying to help. I try to only use straight facts with zero emotion. Maybe I come off as mean or passive aggressive, I don't know.

Have you taken a big interest in VoIP or is it just a big on-going project?

It's the being helpful and knowledgeable that get's you in trouble.
-
@Tim_G It has been a long time since I have been muted but in less than a year I have been muted 5 times

LOL, I've not had that today, but it happens SO often. It's how you know you are telling the truth and not just placating people or stroking egos.
-
Ah, so muting isn't an automated thing?

LOL, nearly so.
-
@scottalanmiller I've never been muted (or have been aware of it). I was just curious.

Just one of my stronger skill areas. I have been dealing with VoIP in one way or another since 1999.
