Started another Linux Academy course (LPIC-1 System Administrator) before heading to sleep.
What has your experience been like? I'm currently reading a lot and self-teaching but I don't know where I'm going to end up. We'll see
I don't necessarily have a set path. I'm using it as an introduction to concepts. The Linux Essentials course was ok. There's a thread in Mangolassi about regular expressions, which shows some weakness in the presentation.
I bought a year's worth of access last November, so I intend to use as much of it as I can. I'm unsure if I'll renew though.

ug.. trying to get things sorta back to normal.
You've been "away" for a while. We've barely seen you.
yep.. been busy and out of town.
How was Celebration?
It was good - I sprung for the VIP pass, so it wasn't Line-mageddon for me. I was able to see almost everything I wanted to. But simple scheduling overlaps makes it impossible to see all that you might want to.

I'm sure. My friend's wife went down and was cosplaying as a sith for most of it. She had so much fun.

It's on my list to replace with something, likely FreePBX + SIP provider. Right now its connection to the PSTN is your favorite: T1

Just finishing a tear down of a HP laptop to address the power jack issue. Once replaced, I'll likely toss in two more GB of ram and go Linux on it... Might do some drive swapping as this thing only had a 160GB HDD in it...
Of course one of the first things I thought of, was do I really need to put it back into the chassis to use it? I mean,.. Memory and a HDD and its ready to run - who needs all the extra stuff like sound, Monitor, speakers and such. The USB is on a pig tail, so with that and the main MOBO all it needs is power..
Meh - we'll see.
Well - I think I did something horribly wrong.
It still boots normally... and I don't have any extra parts left over.... Oh may....

Why does one need a bullet proof vest only to go drinking. Why not have one just because... y'know... bullet proof vest!

Bought this book last night
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1785282395/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Reading the Kindle version while the real thing comes in next week. Whatever I don't understand, I'll make sure to come here and ask the Pro's. Let's begin with UID's. Why do they need to be above 499? What is so special about UID's 499 & below?

@NerdyDad Just recently bought this and am reading it currently. Very good book imo.

Saw that one. I only had $50 from last weeks Aetherstore. So I didn't have enough to purchase everything. I am wanting to learn FOSS systems, but also work my way towards Linux System's Administrator. I figured that this was almost identical to RedHat (which is one of the mostly used servers out there) besides repo's, I would need to work with CentOS first. If I also install NextCloud onto a CentOS VM, then I would have something to work with/break/fix. Figured this book would help me learn the ins and outs of CentOS and get me to where I am wanting to go.

We have the same goal
I chose the Linux command line because Linux is the Kernal and Fedora is the OS. I wanted to start from the absolute bottom and then work my wall all the way to the top. I have a lot to learn.
