What Are You Doing Right Now

And, with no explanation at all, the traffic shoots back up at 3am Eastern Time.

Is that bad or good thing?
-
It is good, but it would be nice if we understood what was driving the traffic.

ahh okay got it. I know what you mean

For those curious, this is the ring I have on layaway...not too worried about the girl finding these pics...

Imgur isn't embedding the photos!

Yeah I was just going to mention that.. weird.

Yes, it is. You need to read all of my notes to you. I've explained how it works. You are not putting in the link syntax, just like you didn't last time. Imgur has nothing to do with it.

How have you guys missed the discussions on this It's been in several threads and for AJ there was a whole explanation of what was and wasn't working and even his post edited so that he could see the exact syntax that is used in posting images as "raw links" are not resolving. But all images work fine with the image post syntax and the "upload to Imgur" button works every time.

Yeah I saw your post earlier this morning..
FYI, images seem to be working again.

What does that mean? Images were always working. Raw links have been unsupported since the update, for whatever reason. It looks like they just aren't supported anymore.

I haven't done anything different today vs last week on how I add a picture to a post (drag and drop) and earlier they weren't working (I would only see a link to the picture), but now those same links are working (showing the picture)

You can drag and drop? I had no idea. I've never tested that.

Testing a raw image link...

Take out the space and this becomes a viable image ^^^^

Those haven't change, they still need the syntax. Must be the drag and drop got fixed separately.
-
I guess I've never tried dropping a link, I just drop JPGs directly into the post.
I guess it was convenient when the system would automatically do what was needed to display a link, but I can see where there would be times when people would not want that, so I'd rather have to manually put the tags in to show the image.

Using a link is popular and easy when you are posting an image that is already hosted somewhere so that it doesn't have to be uploaded. You can still do it, just need to put the parenthesis around it and lead it with ![]

OH absolutely! I was just saying I don't do it that often. And having the ability to post both a link and have the picture show is awesome!
-
Thankfully the upload thing still works, so the most basic users will likely only do that. That the system behaviour changed, though, sucks because that is confusing and TONS of old posts now don't show the images.

For those wondering, traffic is normal today. Not high, not low. Just the healthy norm. Why? No idea. Some days are super hot, some not.... we haven't been able to figure out a pattern.
