What Are You Doing Right Now

This seems to good to be true.. how do they pay for long term bandwidth?
Investing. If you put enough money into an investment account up front, you can pay your bills long term. For example, if you have enough money to buy a house, let's say $100K and you want a house of exactly that amount, you could put that same money into a good index fund and pay your mortgage, month over month, just from the interest. That's the model that they are using. Pay up front and the cost of bandwidth, hosting, CPU, storage, etc. decreases over time. Between new customers and investment dollars, they, in theory, can pay for the old systems that have been paid for in perpetuity pretty easily. They eventually become almost free to maintain.

This thread is on the final push.... half a million views should get hit today, which is amazing. We have done 480,000 views in the time that it has taken NodeBB's own most popular thread to get just 7,000 views!! (Both threads hit 20K views at almost exactly the same time.)

Today was a good day. I was able to stay up for 64 straight hours before I went to bed, still wired before I fell asleep, and today I put an engagement ring on layaway! :d
-
More than two thousand views in three hours. Hardly a record pace BUT we broke the half million barrier easily and long before I was expecting it. Woot! That's serious traffic.

Thanks. I only slept straight through for 4-5 hours. First time I remember waking up was just before 7...I actually feel pretty good today, despite how uncomfortable the bed here is...

Got lots of plans now that you are back? Is this your first time even being in NY since you left?
-
We will be out in the Rochester area in just over a week.
-
Morning to all..
Welcome back A.J. -
Good morning Joy. Another beautiful and awesome day here in California at Change.org. I am seriously loving it here.

Congrats AJ. That's a little like having a wife on layaway. Just have to make some payments and she is yours.
Sadly they don't come with those replacement guarantees like the old Russian bride programs did.

Yes, I have plans. And yes, when I crossed into NYS on Thursday morning, it was the first time I'd been in the state since I left it in 2013.

LOL Well, I just happened to find the ring that I've been looking for...that is to say find something that just rang true with what I wanted (pun intended). It's a single blue diamond for the centerpiece with white diamonds on either side and some of a twist to it all in white gold.

Congrats, AJ.
And good morning, Joy.

Sitting in a large tech demo right now.

Welcome back.. I have done long stents of time here and there,... last major one going to work a Wednesday morning and going home Friday afternoon after doing a server rebuild and some event work.

I am done here, I am taking off and walking back to the hotel.

I am on the phone with Rackspace tech support. Password resets are not working and I'm trying to get my account verified but..... my security question is from about a decade ago and I have zero clue what my obtuse security answer is. Argh.
-
Huge capability outage at Rackspace. Logins aren't working and Rackspace themselves cannot access accounts! System are in a major state of risk.

lol, I have the same issue. I am either too cryptic when initially answering or my answer/how I answer changes to those questions and when I actually need them, years down the line. I often have no idea what I put as the answer. Very unhelpful.
I don't like using standard stuff like mothers maiden name etc as it is easy to divulge those answers to someone using social engineering.
