Fought with a students Lenovo laptop (with Windows = )but have given up. It seems the Intel AC WiFi card is flaky.
Watching the wireless adapter in Task Manager I see extended periods of activity and the periods of 0% activity. Ethernet is fine. How old is the machine? Lenovo laptops from 3-2 years ago had malware called SuperFish. Supposedly Lenovo released a new NIC driver that didn't include it, but since I physically ripped the old card out of my machine and replaced it with a non keyed Lenovo POS I haven't had that issue.
Going by the install date, the overall cleanliness, non-worn looking mouse keyboard & track pad it's less than a week old. Good specs Core i7, 2GB Radeon GFX (can't remember the exact series), SSD, Win10 Pro, 16GB RAM. Bad vendor.
The issue was hautningly similar to @scottalanmiller's Lenovo Yoghurt (Yoga ?) experience.
Exactly - which was the same problems I had before I replaced the wNIC card.
Yeah I said that there was an issue with the wNIC and that she should get it replaced.

Just logged off the AdaFruit Ask an Engineer. - I don't suppose I should be terribly surprised. I didn't get an answer....
LOL, what were you looking to find out?
Looking for a small (wireless or wifi) device to replace the door and window sensors on an alarm system. Can't find any system that will perform the announcements needed when a door is opened.
A Pi could easily do that. Door sensors are about the simplest type of sensor to work with, and playing sounds is quite simple as well. (say, festival, spd-say, or espeak)
Yeah, that seems pretty generic. Why do you need the engineer to answer that question?

Well, a Pi would be the cross interface - yes. But I can't see having a Pi at each door or window. I believe the better solution is the ESP8266 board. But I'm still researching on that.
the project has:
- 5 doors
- 20 Windows
- Glass break option(?)
- Motion option(?)
Even if you used the Pi0 it would be a bit costly... Biggest problem is the installation on some windows. there are 5 sets of either two or three windows,.. Like to not have to tear up the house installing these.
https://www.adafruit.com/products/2821 looks really nice, yep.

Diagnosing why a Epson T88V won't work
found the issue instead of using the standard printer they used on that has a Ethernet port so the USB was disabled

This one response wasn't written by @scottalanmiller but it could have been:
"Literally never do this. Ever."

Banging my head on the desk while trying to get Windows 10 to connect to our VPN... I've basically concluded that it has to be getting blocked from the customer side.

Driver issues or just Windows 10 issues?

Seems to be windows 10 issues. Using the built in client to connect back to this office, simple PPTP connection, no love. But I know that at least 2 people are working from home today, so the tunnel is working. I think the IT dept at the customer side isn't exactly skilled or qualified to do anything to computers.

This is one of our guys at the customer site, and he's actually sharp, but their IT has no idea if they have anything in place that would block the connection. And yes, it's a government office...
