What Are You Doing Right Now

So we're supposed to take "tech tips" from someone who runs a server with 3 RAID 5's striped together in Windows with no backups? And apparently that server not only stores everything, but does their video encoding......
Yeah SW had a long thread about how clueless and non-technical this guy is, too.

Holy cow, I just read the whole thing. Ya I wasn't pointing so much at the RAID 50 as I was no backups. But I did see this and couldn't believe it.
I thought SSD's would eliminate the need for RAID. But I'm still on the fence about this.
What is going on over there?

Running a business off a home built server with consumer class SSD drives. Consumer class drives and no backups are the problems here. So sad from someone who really should know better.

Wow, missed that the first time through. Where did THAT idea come from?

Someone on SW is "on the fence" as to whether or not backups are still needed? Dear Lord!

He's just a gamer bench monkey, from what I've gathered. Not someone who knows anything about computers or storage. I only know him from a couple of these goofy videos. Nothing wrong with being a bench guy that tinkers for gaming machines, but he's obviously not even a high school IT intern. I'm not sure he's supposed to know anything more about computers than someone's grandma would.

Pulls a thought out ab out something you said... Plan your backups and hardware around how important your data is (paraphrased to a degree)

There was a time when their private groups would spend all day discussing posts here and drive crazy amounts of traffic over. It was pretty funny.

@hobbit666 Good morning.

Something like 2% of all questions on SW come down to "here is the error, can you read it to me." Clearly this guy knew that he needed to include no details except for the error message from Google. All there is for us to do is look at the error message and repeat it to him word for word. I'm so lost as to how this happens so often. "Click here to continue." What do I do!!! "Um, click there to continue."

Morning to @scottalanmiller
Guess another "IT Pro" that's come from college/uni with no real skills lol.
