What Are You Doing Right Now
-
@Dashrender I couldn't even afford the power bill to run those 2 servers!
-
@Dashrender I personally purchased the servers switch and pdu (mostly ebay) myself and got my employer to purchase the rack since they are always complaining about how unorganized my office is

Wait - what? you paid for the hardware? are they going to reimburse you now that you're using it at their office to their benefit?
-
I really like the rack, its on casters so I can roll it where i want it, then roll it out of the way if not using it.
-
@Dashrender I originally purchased it to play with stuff at home, but decided to leave it at the office and use it here for now. I didn't spend very much money, i got the servers for $75/ea.
-
What are the servers? and how much storage did you get?
-
@Dashrender HP DL385 G6. dual quad core AMDs 64GBRAM, the drives I had laying around, 146GB drives.

nice.
I have two DL380 G5s that I need to convert to VM hosts, but getting the 700 GB off the first server is the current issue. -

Ugghhh... I hate it when they do that. It happens at one of the local Mexican restaurants too.

Funny, just an hour ago I was dishing out some food for the kids and I was touching it and thinking about this very thing. And in my head I heard "but I don't know where his hands have been" but then in head I replied "but you don't know where the plates or forks have been either, so....?"

True... True... But it'd be a good backup, lol.

I have two VM hosts currently, but only one has the free space to take this as a P2V. The software on it isn't supported anymore, and can't be upgraded. It's more or less just a read only type situation.
The last time I kicked off a P2V to took 4 days and eventually failed because we had a power outage right at the end.

It happens more often than not almost everywhere.
I used to just toss it, now I eat it. Trying to get better. The world is full of germs.
Every place that fills up soda is like that. Thumb in the cup, dirty hands on cup, dirty cup in ice.

Generally dirty ice too... those ice makers are downright disgusting.

You've apparently seen the same expose shows as me!

I'm starting a week long test of Xen Orchestra to backup a VM, of which will run every day at midnight, the next day I'll add a new document to the desktop, and let it continue.
After a week I'll be testing the restore functionality, to see if we can restore to every specific day, pick and choose, or gain everything back (as expected)
Should be good.
Wish me luck this is all built on the opensource "unsupported" versions.
