I'd say no. Brand is know for failures. They are a bestbuy store brand just like Dynex, Rocketfish etc.
Yeah, but in that price range, maybe that is a chance I take.
Not worth it you can find better TVs for not much more. I personally like LG though they are a bit more pricey. Vizio is the go to decent TV at a Decent price brand. Insiginia you'd be lucky to get 12-24 months out of it.
-
@scottalanmiller I've never actually bought a Sony TV, they were always way more than Sharp or Samsung. I have two sharps right now and love them!

There was a Sharp yesterday for this price but it is sold out.
Is Sharp still making TVs themselves, or are they just rebranded?
-
I do not believe that they rebrand.

I've heard Vizio is the same as Insignia.
I know what you mean, but TVs from Samsung, etc., are usually considerably more.

No, Vizio is not a store brand. It's much higher quality (but not where near the best). Insignia is bottom of the barrel.

All of the store brands are rebranded tvs from someone. (I know at one time Insignia was LG, but may not be now.)
What they usually are TV's that didnt meet the original manufacturer's quality control standards somewhere.
-
Since this is just for gaming, mostly, I think a lower brand would be OK.
Though obviously $299 for 18 months (if it dies) vs. $399 for 5 years is a key thought.

Best Buy has a 49" Toshiba doorbuster for $149 if I feel like waiting in line and being trampled.

Yeah, they have A Toshiba. Just one.

I'm pretty sizable. I like my chances.

Sharp - 50" Class (49.7" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - HDTV - Black
Model: LC-50LB370U • SKU: 2257095$299 at BestBuy for BF
Since Sharp was mentioned, maybe that is a better deal.

Not bad, but I'm not a fan of Sharp.
-
I have a feeling no matter what brand I mention, there will be people who are not a fan of it!
-
Yeah I want to replace the main TV in my house. I have a 10 year old LCD Sharp Aquos 45". I'd like to replace it with a 70" I'm leaning toward a Vizio. The price is just right, and I have several friends who have had them for a few years and they are happy with them.

@BRRABill That's the beauty of hanging out with a bunch of IT people. Ask one of us a question, and you'll get 97 different answers, lol.
-
I have a 55" Panasonic Plasma as our main TV. I've thought about going to a 70" and filtering the 55" to the XBOX, but I"m trying to keep the costs as low as possible.
Plus the WAF over 55" will take some arguing.
