What Are You Doing Right Now

@g.jacobse Not only does it have on and off, it also has volume control (with remote control), lol. Now all I gotta do is make sure my wife doesn't find that remote.

Congrats @dafyre!!!!!

Public Service Announcement: Soon to come: New and improved hearing for those of us who simply can't!
My insurance finally approved a cochlear implant for me. Surgery is going to be some time in September... I shall be among the hearing folks again... <insert maniacal laugh here>
Wow that is really cool. Good luck with this. Do you think the sound will be overwhelming at first?
-
@coliver Quite a bit, yes. Pops (who also has an implant) says that I will have a constant headache for the first month after we turn it on, lol. Fortunately, I know somebody who already has one (Pop's unit is ~29 years old as of this month!)... so I know a little bit of what to expect.
But I will be hearing things that I haven't heard in 20 years... (Beeping watch alarms, Beeping UPSes, Fire alarms, cats meowing, doorbells, birds, crickets, other buzzing insects, and the list goes on, lol)... So while I will have a constant headache, I will also be nagging everybody around me: What is THAT sound? lol.

I would be interested in reading how your first few weeks go. This is something I can't really comprehend (lose a sense and having it come back) so reading about it would be interesting.

@coliver I will probably do a write up. If you want my Pop's Perspective on it... (Note: Shameless Plug for Pop's books, lol)... The Kindle version is a buck.... It's called "Hear the Sunshine"

Cool thanks.

I feel like it is a slow day around here. And when I go over to SW it feels like a slow day there too. There is just like nothing going on.

It is a bit slow especially compared to the rest of the week. It is hump day though maybe that has something to do with it?
-
Maybe that is all that it is. Normally Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the rocking days, though.
-
BUT, the "view" traffic of the site is doing really well. We are actually having a better than average day for people reading the site, just light on the posting.

Hey, NodeBB 0.7.3 just dropped. We will have to see if we can get that set up tonight. I have to travel tomorrow night and am hanging in PC all weekend so would like to not be working on that this weekend.
-
For those wondering, we passed the half million monthly view mark this morning. So we are on track for a healthy month.

Out of curiosity, what was the reason for choosing rackspace and not something like digital ocean?

DO is new, and most behind ML (generally @ntg ) have had longstanding use of RackSpace

That pretty much sums it up. Been on RS for a very long time and for the most part they work really well.

I had seen some posts of you using them, I was just curious.

RS is far more robust. When we grow, RS has full infrastructure options like load balancers. DO does not have that stuff. DO is really for single servers, not hosted infrastructure.

Thought the morning was too quiet... turns out our spiceworks VM filled it's shorts and gave up on life.

Ha ha. There is a maxim in here somewhere.
A too quiet morning leads to a too busy afternoon.
