I can believe Azure still doesn't support vhdx.

Although if you use an Generation 2 VM it is the only file supported

      Still open case with Azure

TL;DR I'm not sure I'd do it (or why you are) but it would work just fine.

TL;DR? You reply twice, but didn't read it?

Honestly I just rambled quickly and forgot wtf you asked about XD

But unlike ESXi that simply blocks things that they don't want you to do, XS just stops making it easy.

Well, if none of the stuff anyone tried to do works, maybe they SHOULD block it! 🙂

@Scale computing nodes...... same limitations I presume?

Sorry for taking a week to see the mention. Thanks for thinking of us.

No, the limitation does not exist on the Scale HC3 clusters. We do not have artificial size limitations. We have tested VMs much larger than 2TB without issue.

I think that that is becoming less and less true. Quirky environments are becoming less and less the norm. The need to install locally is rapidly going away. There are still things that get installed locally but the variety and commonality is dropping at a prodigious pace and the isolation of programs is getting to be quite good.
