      Lumix mirrorless

      I should have mentioned ---

On a small budget. so a $1,600 camera isn't going to work.

      Um WHAT?

Lumix makes high end cams for like $300. How the heck are you shopping?

I’ll have to go back and look- I was trying to do four different things and my first search may have been off.

@NashBrydges That's most likely direct connection. Plex uses UPnP and NAT-PMP to open ports on router, otherwise you simply cannot connect directly. If you stream through relay, that's where limitation is in place.

I have UPNP + NAT-PMP enabled. I'll disable them and test things out when I have a chance.

But Dragon Media argues that it is merely facilitating access to online content rather than providing pirated TV itself. "The entertainment industry for decades, even going back to Sony Betamax cases, have been fighting tooth and nail against innovation and technology and losing almost every single battle," Syverson said. "There is no reason for plaintiffs to be optimistic in any way."

"I remember a young company called YouTube whose business model was copyright infringement. It was sued, and it didn't turn out too badly for YouTube, did it?" Syverson also said. (Viacom sued YouTube in 2007, and the case was settled in 2014.)

"Generally speaking, linking to content online has been cleared by almost every court in the land," he said.

Doesn't iphone have a way of getting into USB drive mode? or was that removed? or is that only a function through itunes?

I haven't tried for awhile but I remember I was able to access some photos and videos using Shotwell but that's about it.

I am not worried about access data from my iPhone on my Linux machines. I am looking at ways to listen to my music library on my iPhone without iTunes.

set your iphone into USB drive mode, connect it to 'nix machine, copy over music, disconnect, play music - no?

That only gives you access to photos last I tried it.

      Oh, suck then!.

So in the UK, sports franchises now have "ownership" of the Internet and can determine your right to use your own data? Reading the ruling, they are going to block any Kodi server they want, even if you own it and are using it for your own content. They literally "own" you now, at least during the hours under which they are doing business - which is something that they determine.

No, they have copyright of the media. The servers being blocked are illegally providing a feed of that media.

      Where is the disconnect here?

The league is required to show proof of the illegal stream before the site is blocked.

That's what I was missing, and what I was asking. In that case,it seems reasonable, if hard to do.

According to the article, it is no longer hard to do. That is part of the point.

Although also according to the article, the process is secret, so we don't know what they are doing at all. It does imply that they are supposed to only be blocking illegal streams. I question that it must be obscure to work. They haven't said how they would offer proof, only that they came up with their own method for determining who to block.

This line here insinuates it is simply a digital fingerprint.

Judge Arnold states that technological advances in video fingerprinting can identify illegal streams in near real-time, allowing ISPs to be notified of new servers "nearly instantaneously."

So streaming over HTTPS wouldn't be prevented. Seems like this is going to become more and more useless as the internet moves to encryption as a standard.
