      It's the whole ZT/DNS

@Dashrender said in Pre-Planning new domain and environment:

and when I tested ZT in the past,

It is just DNS. You have to have it on EVERYTHING if you go that route.

Or, you make the ZT network the same subnet and not different.

Just take your 10.0.0.0/24 and make it a 10.0.0.0/23 instead.
have the local DHCP server hand out 10.0.0.101-254
have ZT DHCP hand out 10.0.1.101-254

      or use ZT Bridging
Lots of ways to skin the cat.

Your more than welcome to dive into https://issurvivor.com/ and search his archives

His only mention of MSP is from Nov, 2000 when he discovered the term. And he talks about ASPs as well. I had started my first of both, over a hear before he heard the terms 🙂

      https://issurvivor.com/2000/11/20/trend-overload-first-appeared-in-infoworld/

It really was a new term at the time. But he acts like the concept was new. It was very tried and true in the 1990s. It's an ancient article, just funny that in late 2000 he was thinking that MSPs were some hot, new thing, lol.

I suppose you could use Storage Spaces Direct (all windows across the entire thing) but I wouldn't consider SSD at all mature nor production ready, especially at this scale.

Thanks, had not heard of this.

DataOn solutions fully support this and vice versa. They are experienced with this kind of scale and much larger.

@JaredBusch I'm looking at the AirMAX lineup and have used a few of the products like the NanoStation 5AC loco with fabulous results.. but the rest of the stuff looks a little more than consumer grade. Do you think this is an accurate breakdown -

Unifi - Small to Medium business with low customization needs. Primarily for Access Layer and down. Nice interface but not standard for routing setup

UniFi routers and switches, yes. UniFi Access Points, are solid for any purpose.

Also, I would personally never use UniFi routing/switching in SMB. But I know some people just live that pretty pane of glass that they never look at after 3 weeks.

@nadnerB Wow, just your highlights here read like a long nightmare. Only government would assume they could pressure another company into doing something it doesn't want to do. Then 'cloudify' the software, as if that's any different than virtualizing it! 😆

And as if that's any different than not virtualization it. It's really just gibberish.

Interesting convo. I can't get into too much detail but in the solar industry it is ESSENTIAL to have the investors lined up. If you don't, you die.

Even with them lined up, you still want to spend money wisely.

Wow, that is a rather long time.

Yup, parts were very hard to get and getting the server physically moved before diagnostics could begin ate huge amounts of time up. Cost of speeding things up would have been huge - replacing gear instead of repairing it. But since the vendor could not diagnose the issue with the hardware (their error messages were ones that they did not have documented) it complicated things greatly.

I use the highly secure leave-it-off function on my home PC. If my assistance is requested at home by Mrs nadnerB, then I use Teamviewer.
