      RomoR

That worked, installing the Runtime from the ISO fixed the dll error and copying over the sql.ini file allowed the client app to properly reach the databaes.

In-house software. We developed it in 2002 and maintain it to keep up with our needs.

I think that for MSPs that that tends to make the most sense. Our needs tend to be highly unique, and not that difficult to fill.

@scottalanmiller I manage an environment with SAP B1, but I don't know the answer. It used to be a very bad, clunky and slow software, now is getting a little better.

That's what we are seeing. It is barely software at all, it seems like a crappy version of phpMyAdmin here - a database access layer without an application on top of it 😞

Fedora is better for active IT departments that maintain their systems. CentOS is better for companies that deploy and never maintain their systems and just hope for the best 😉

I just wonder your statement here on CentOS, while I have seen you always praise CentOS than Ubuntu. Is that praise just about CentOS vs Ubuntu ?

So your whole interest on Fedora is because it have Latest things and faster development ?

@travisdh1 making a sql file is a pain in the ass.

Look at my Nextcloud 11 guide for the simpler way to handle that and securing mariadb.

We run E10.0.700.3 at the moment (1 Server 2012 VM that runs SQL 2012, 1 Server 2012 VM that runs the E10 appserver, and 1 Server 2012 VM that runs RemoteApp for the E10 client - all on the same ESXi host) and will likely move to E10.1 in the next few months. We actually found that at sites with low internet bandwidth, RemoteApp is a little slower than when the client is installed locally. One site running a T1 told us that, and we confirmed it to be the case. It may have had to do with the nice metro interface in E10. The sites with 35/5 coax or 10/10 fiber seem to run RemoteApp about the same as installing the client locally.

I actually heard someone say at Epicor Insights 2015 that Epicor 10 ran better when installed locally on client machines connecting over site-to-site VPN. We never really had to test that theory other than at the site with a T1 that I mention here.

I don't know anyone using open source ERP's on a large scale yet, mainly because of the support contracts you get with enterpise commercial systems and with all or most of your companies data being in this system - you really want a support contract even with in house development incase something goes wrong.

Agreed, and even a lot of closed source ERPs like SAP don't scale worth a damn either, I think the biggest difference is with the support contracts people feel better, where as if you hit a scalability wall with OpenBravo or something, you're basically screwed unless you want to hire some Java programmers. Even if SAP takes 2 days to fix something, that's a lot better for a company than something never being fixed, or having to setup all the outsourcing/insourcing to fix some internally mangled Java app.

I also noticed the article doesn't mention and sources or any companies using open source ERP. And this is written by a guy who does Open source ERP Implemntation/customization so bias is likely.

I hear that... this is typical though. They'll ignore 500 fail cases and concentration on 2 use cases and call it success.

      ?

I've never used NAV, just the plain old Dynamics/GP. - Which is quite a beast of a system. I've only dealt with it in environments with lots of customization and the interrogator would provide yearly support contracts.
