Pertino slow file transfer
-
Let's see if @Josh can find out if there are instances closer to you. We've had some slowness issues and they just had to rebalance where the system was located and it sped right up.
-
That would be amazing. If I could get this speed issue fixed, I might be able to convince it to be used in our company, giving us access from any device!
-
@Ambarishrh Have you tried Windows to Windows? We've seen some serious challenges with SMB shares from Windows to Mac. If performance is the same then it could be latency as you're probably connecting to a vSwitch in Amsterdam, but we've even heard good things from users in South Africa, so I'm guessing it has to do with protocol.
-
I will try it from a Windows machine, but we have mix of both Windows and Mac. My friend tried from India, from Windows but even that was slow, he was using a home Ian dongle internet with 5 Mb speed.
-
Now tested from windows, after a minute, I saw that out of 3MB download, 16% then shows calculating, and 4th minute went on till 98 and finished almost at 5 mnts! It is slow
-
@Ambarishrh I've never really used it for file transfers. Well not for transfers where I need to monitor the speed. I make use of it for background transfers and for AD connect at clients.
-
Yeah, we don't use it for typical file transfer stuff either.
-
Fle sharing was one of the features shown in Pertino website.

Yes, they push that and remote desktop primarily. I don't see either as the big core features. AD is the biggest feature for me, and application publishing.
-
@Ambarishrh Can you email me the email address you used to set up the network? I'll look at the vswitch. [email protected]

Thank you, sent an email with the details

I have had seriously slow transfers from Windows to Linux over Pertino, even with a solid pipe and connection. I also notice that if your files are small, but you have a large number of them, say thousands, it can go slow as well.
-
Noticed this when I transferred my Wordpress site files from my laptop, running 8.1 Pro, over Pertino to a AWS server running Ubuntu 14.04.

Honestly ML rocks!

@thanksaj How long ago did you experience that?

I would say this on every post I guess, ML rocks!

Pertino support is awesome! Am still talking to the support team to see if theres anything else to be done and see a better transfer.

@thanksaj Do either of the end points have a Pertino version 370 or less? We made enhancements to connectivity for Linux devices post-370.

The Windows machine has 370 and hasn't updated automatically like it normally does. The Linux box has 410 I believe.

@thanksaj Try manually upgrading via the ptray on the Windows box.
