I've few of my collegues who upgraded to Yosemite facing performance issues, crashes etc

I am still using 10.9 on my home & office macbook. Are you not using Webroot on your MAC?

Had Sophos on the home iMac, felt performance issues, but thats fixed once I installed Webroot! 🙂

No, this isn't an NTG machine, so it doesn't have Webroot. Not something that I control.

I have all the updates etc. but haven't had any issues with crashing. Now if someone could please tell me how to stop this thing from going into sleep mode I would be happy 😛

I however am only running standard software and Office 365 I am not running anything else extra. I don't even have a AV on it at this point (yeah, yeah I know I should be).

@Minion-Queen Sleep mode can be controlled from System Preferences- Energy saver, or use Caffeine http://lightheadsw.com/caffeine/

I didn't used to have too many problems early on but, the last 2-3 major OS versions have been more flaky and well tested well in a rush to get it out, and the problems were just never fixed. I had a lot of Kernel Panics, Crashes when just using chrome, safari or firefox (espcially if flash videos were playing) Trackpad lock ups (yet it would never look up when in windows or linux so it was a driver issue).

Unfortunately mine got smashed when I was leaving in the not for an emergency a few months back. So I don't have a mac anymore. It's not fixable due to the case bending so much it flexed the logic boards too much.

Most instability issues I have stem from waking out of sleep mode while using a external monitor, mouse, and keyboard. I time to time have to unhook them and use the onboard keyboard to log in. I am not using any AV however, so that may be your issue. Is the mac virus threat real enough to warrent needing AV?

Even just the laptop with nothing plugged in, once in a while there is no working keyboard.

I haven't had trouble with the straight laptop but waking up from sleep mode with a mouse or keyboard. Every stinking time I have to unplug them and plug them back in.

Were you doing anything intense on it when it happened? Details please 🙂

Nope, browsing a web page and it just crashed.

@scottalanmiller Weird. I don't have a ton of good things to say about them (in a mixed environment for business) but randomly crashing certainly isn't on my list of complaints.

I rarely have any lockup issues with my MB unless I have recently changed added something that the OS didn't like. If you can disable the AV you will probably be golden. I don't run active AV though I do scan once a week with Clam. I have yet to find anything but BS tracking cookies that I haven't dumped yet.

Try running the built in Encryption and Firewall if you are able.
