We might be as little as two months away from the actual launch of the Ubuntu Touch phones. Sadly, for the Americans, the first Ubuntu phones look like they are only going to be available in Europe.

Nice! I've been hanging out for these for a while.

            Only a 2150mAh battery?
            That seems rather small.

However it appears that it nearly twice the rating for the iPhone 5 series

It's just a starting point. If this works I assume that there will be lots of phones with many options.

I wonder if the big Android phones will receive Ubuntu Touch ROMS?

Not too likely, but it is possible. More likely you will see hobbyists make ROMs for them.

Maybe Ubuntu will unseat Microsoft and put a nail in the Windows Phone coffin.

There really is so much space in the market, typically only three vendors will have real market share. Windows is in such a precarious position that it could very viably be knocked out.

I hope this doesn't happen - Yes MS had a (OK has always had) an issue with their phones - but I think they are finally moving toward a right track.
I really like my Windows Phone - so far it locks up way less than my Galaxy S4 does and the battery lasts a ton longer (though my Galaxy S4 is 18 months old, so the battery could just be going bad).

It's been more than a decade. If Microsoft hasn't figured out mobile phones by now it is best to just give it up.
