@coliver No, we dont have MSPs here.
Well here, we don't have 2-3 weeks of vacation at once either. Let alone even the thought of taking off for 2 months.
As a side note, in the US, the word vacation typically implies paid leave time.

Would you need them to be "there"? What parts need to be done locally for a short period of time?

Yeah, that's more like "voluntary furlough."

You don't - but I've taken two 3 week vacations since I've been here.

A very few people in the US get to do this.

Yeah, this is really unheard of.

Hard pressed to get an actual non-work 1 week vacation here. The people try hard not to contact me but still do 95% of the time.
-
I take the last 2-2.5 weeks off every year. I get 4 weeks and hardly ever use it all during the year so I lump it in at the end of the year since we're always slow from December through February. But, of course, I'm basically always on-call.

OH - I never go a vacation more than 3 days without a phone call or 10. But in general, They are pretty short calls.

The 2-3 weeks i mentioned is a paid leave. I'm not expecting the hotel to require onsite support during my vacation. But it seems some employee get used to providing service to VIPs and sometimes themselves acts like a VIP aka "difficult diva user". At one time i need to ride a buggy go up 3 floors just to press or click a button (added to the list of strange, funny and sometimes annoying world of IT Support).
