It does support @ sign notation. If you are mentioning somebody in the body of an email, you can use the @ and put their name which will give you a drop down. This works in Outlook 2016, but not sure about OWA.

No, at this time Office 365 and Exchange do not support the plus sign notation in emails.

I've never liked this feature. I think it is just silly and stretches a non clarified hole in the RFC for SMTP.

What is the purpose of the notation though?

Yeah, you can just say the name of the person in the email addressing that person instead...

No, that is not what it is about. @NerdyDad's post obviously confused the entire question.

Note: I believe the + notation works with GSuite domains, but the . notation does not.

@jaredbusch Yes, it really is a stupid feature. Only valid reason to do this is to find out who distributes your email address after you sign up for some site or mailing list.

That is not even a valid reason, because any decent marketing company will actually know this and simply strip it.

I agree, kinda neat, but more of a problem.

@jaredbusch Youre giving fools too much credit. You and scott always say things like spoofing voip #s or removing this + notation is trivial. Yet nobody does it. Nobody does it because the people running the scam or the marketeer selling your email address arent competent, at all, and never will be. Its why they run scams and sell email addresses.

The period notation is really annoying for me. I signed up [email protected] when it was in beta and this "feature" wasn't publicized. Years later someone else was able to register [email protected] and now I get DoTerra order details and the like. I have no idea what I don't get at this point.

Don't know about a period notation feature. What does that do? And how do that not break email globally?
