Does Dell not offer low cost HW RAID anymore?

SAS 12Gbps HBA External Controller, Low Profile.

This part has no way to connect to internal devices from what i can tell.
s130 seems to be terrible.
By terrible i mean Fake RAID. -
I believe that since that is an external controller that the silver thing on the left side is where an external SAS cable plugs in.

Well, you're looking at a list of external controllers that are not designed to have internal drives connected. You need something like this instead: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/405-aamx.

Well, you're looking at a list of external controllers that are not designed to have internal drives connected. You need something like this instead: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/accessories/apd/405-aamx.
You're looking for a raid controller, not an HBA.
The PERC H730 or H730p is way cheaper.

None of those options are available on the single socket poweredge configurator, th0ough i could just be missing it.

Yeah, they still offer the Software RAID Cards but I still wouldn't use the External HBA cards.

are great for DAS. I use those on a few servers for MD1000s.

It does, but they MD1000s were mainly setup for SAN devices in mind. Yeah they can also be attached to servers as well which is not bad either. Just not my preference, nothing wrong with that.

Not sure what you mean, a DAS is a DAS... MD1000, MD3000, MD1200, MD1400... whatever. They are simply (as what Dell calls them, @scottalanmiller , not me) "Server JBOD Expansions". They aren't specific to SAN use and are not SANs.
