Are we fans of Ubiquity when it comes to surveillance cameras and an NVR or is there another brand that is recommended?
After seeing what a former company paid for a "security system", I'm a big fan of their price points. I've never actually used any of their cameras tho. The other system was ok, but was a whole other box to manage on top of being expensive in the first place.

We have the older ubiquiti system (6x cameras, NVR). Works perfectly, no issues, easy peasy, would buy again. Only caveat of the older one is that the live view in the web browser uses flash. Not sure about the current generation kit.

I've used them in the past and thought they did a good job.

I have one G3 Dome running and I really like the picture and price point. I'll be adding some more cameras in the future. I'll have to decide if I want to keep running my own NVR or buy one of theirs prebuilt. I just used an old Zotac box I had no other use for to test the camera and software.

I have 5 separate systems now with a mix of G3 cameras. I have no complaints.

The Ubiquiti NVR software was available (might still be, haven't checked lately) to customers so you could run their NVR as a VM (the one I have runs on Debian). So you could get all the functionality without buying the actual NVR hardware.

I was thinking the same thing. I have never messed with Ubiquiti cameras but always heard great things about them.

I've been using synologys built in surveillance app, works quite well for me, using a hikvision poe camera with it.

I am a fan of Ubiquiti Cameras, I have them running locally and also in Amazon. Most of my deployments are running Debian and Ubuntu. Best to keep your hardware and software updated. The AirCams have been long deprecated.

I have two of the older UVC Micros for our house. They work pretty well.

So you are not using their NVR box? You have it on a private server?
I had used their NVR in the past. Decent specs and pretty good storage space.

I have 4 installs on their NVR and 1 on a server using Ubuntu 16.04

So you are not using their NVR box? You have it on a private server?
Correct, we are using a VM in a local Server and also Amazon EC2 instances with S3.

I've not used them, but the price and features seem awfully good.
