I love it. Almost half way through the month and our VoIP cost (already including the monthly rate for DIDs, Vultr, voip.ms fax) is about $96. Methinks we won't be hitting $755 by the end of the month.
I just wish my church would take note of this. They are wanting to increase their budget in order to pay for their current setup for the next year. I asked if they have looked at newer technologies and they were like "What new technologies?" and "But nobody has volunteered to help with something like this." I have offered to help a number of occasions and I keep getting blocked. Not offering my services anymore.

I see that a lot. This is typically an indicator that someone is making money off of the old system and they were trusting that no one would offer an alternative. Dollars to donuts, the support vendor in question is a friend of someone in power and this is pure and simple embesszlement to steal from the donations and funnel money to the friend. That friend may or may not then pay to get those favours.
This is the expect behaviour in nearly any non-profit. Especially small ones, there is so much money to be made this way, it's easily why most people decide to pursue working in non-profits. It's so common, I'd guess it must happen 75% of the time.

You're right on. There is an MSP that runs out of Dallas and extorts them out of fear. They are so fearful that they will not let anybody else work on their network except for that one guy. He charges them from when he leaves his office until he gets back to his office.
I've tried to persuade them that I could do better through, not just me, but other IT people in our congregation and was never taken up on that offer. Other ministers in the church has used me to solve small problems, but that has since stopped as I am sure that there are other internal political factors going on that I am just not aware of.

@nerdydad Considering how self-critical I am of making judgement errors (especially as I learn more about X), it boils my blood to read stories like this (MSP and your church).

Only good option is to not support the corruption.

That's apart of other factors...

When I worked on the previous MSP we worked for my boss' church and he did not charge them but we did an excellent job at providing them with correct Technology and expectations.
Since I am also involved in a church there is also an involvement in politics and a group of people trying to control everything to their benefits.

<long rant about churches, their "budgets", their lack of paying taxes, their lack of willingness to pay installers / expecting skilled labor at "volunteer" prices, and lots of other general "never, ever work for a church" advice redacted>
Where's that middle finger emoji again?

I almost wish I was in this situation (but I'm highly non organized religious). This would be an excellent place to work on skills of approaching the powers that be about the corruption that Scott talks about all the time. It's not like they can fire you. Heck, they can't even really shun you in any way (that would be very unchurch like).

I simply refuse to participate in that type of politics -- especially in religious organizations.

You should run a query every once in a while on your termination to see how many times you are charged outside of tier 1 pricing.
Twilio is .007 but sometimes you will see .014 or higher. Not sure what area you are in. This is when it makes sense to compare Telnyx for outgoing.
Never port in to Telnyx, they charge you $7 or more per number to port out.

Can't believe no one has recommended Ulingo, SMH. Or what about NTG?
With all the vendors shit posting their wares I can easily see my $1000+ a month going anywhere but SW and actually yielding some sales.

Yes, it's a shit post fest all the time, and I know that at least I am conditioned to leave any thread that has a GG posting on it, it's instant thread death. I don't even read what is there. I see the email notification that a GG has responded and I just delete the email and move on. The whole system is useless to me. I'm only interested in threads where they remain technical.
