Yeah, my @netscape.net email was migrated to AIM or something like that a long time ago... after that I lost access to it.

I had that as a recovery email to an old gmail account, and lost access to it because I couldn't access the @netscape.net email anymore 😞

Used trillian so that I could have AIM, yahoo messenger, ICQ, and MSN Messenger all tied into one app.

We all need to sign up for a billion more accounts so they don't close it.

AIM is the bomb. . . I wonder if I can still use my 1 million free hours of internet. . . I've only gone through a 10th of the CD's they've sent me. . .

haha, I was more ICQ and messenger back in the day.

I still have access to my ICQ. I never log it in, but I have access. One of the early 6 digit UINs

We used AIM up until a couple of years ago when we moved to the free version of Slack.

I wonder how many users remain on AIM. And how much it was costing them to run. I wonder why not just leave it on unless there were still a lot of users. Then, it seems like it still would make sense to leave it on.

I had no clue it still existed. I would have been a sophomore in high school in 1997.

Used both AIM and ICQ - And there is a story about ICQ for me.... might mirror some other users as well.. My current marriage started with an ICQ message in 1998-9,... it was just but a simple hello....

I know a guy that is still using the AOL desktop software and has AIM running. When he logged in and I heard all the doors opening up as his contacts loaded, it brought back some memories. Isn't it amazing how one day we can't live without an app and then all the sudden it's a distant memory?

Ha I used Pidgin at my last job and was able to tie in my wife's AIM account and talk to her throughout the day. My old boss blocked Skype and several other websites. He would also always be watching and call the center if he seen you on your personal phone for too long. Glad I got out of there.
