Before I do anything, I wonder if Korora would be any better than Fedora?

Yeah I really don't see the difference between the two except for that dumb side bar. I'll stick to Fedora rather than Korora.

Anyone know of any benefit to Korora over Fedora?

Looks like Korora might come with some things pre-installed like codecs and support for more things like graphics drivers and such.

It might not matter if I can still get it all on Fedora, and if Korora is only a small time saver. I'll have to do some more searching.

Still leaning towards Fedora unless anyone knows why not?

Korora is based on Fedora. So you'll be able to add anything from Korora into Fedora without too much of a hassle.

I think I'll try with Korora first. If I run into any hiccups that Fedora otherwise wouldn't have caused, I'll switch.

My reasons for this are due to it looking like it just more natively supports more home use scenarios (gaming, drivers, etc), thus saving me time and research.

@Tim_G I've also experience Korora 25 Cinnamon where all I see is the default wallpaper. I never tried investigate it since using Fedora 25 works great.

Yeah... I've had 0 issues with Fedora so far... and with Korora, it's endless. I'm hoping to get to a stable state in Korora. If I just can't, Fedora it is.

I believe its more of a convenience of not have install repos, certain packages and making it look nice.

My issue could possibly be with my AMD Graphics Card. Plus I can't get passed the bright and colorful icons. It seems weird too me.

I was able to get Korora to install again. After it installed, I got back into troubleshooting mode or something, no graphics acceleration. Maybe I accidentally selected the wrong boot item, but I'm in the process of updating anyways.

                      It's almost done.

On a positive note, after Korora installed and I hit the reboot button, it actually rebooted without me having to hold downt he power button. SO it may be an issue with NVidia GTX 970m or something. No idea.

Is Korora Cinnamon using wayland or xorg?

Yeah Korora is just not going to happen. It's a dud, not ready for the real world imo. Not working on 2 for 2 physical systems I've tried it on.

                          Fedora it is.

That's surprising I've had literally no issues with it. Works wonderfully. Granted I don't have a discrete graphics card.

I did Korora 25 Cinnamon on my desktop, a dell optiplex 890, a month ago and on my laptop, a MacBook Pro, last night.

                              Both worked fine.

Fedora 25 just randomly froze while mid upgrade process. Hard reset my laptop, now continuing...

I'm starting to think it's my hard drive... it's an m.2. But the SMART status is all good. Disk manager says it's okay too.

I still haven't been able to properly reboot or shut down Fedora 25. After hitting shutdown or restart, the desktop icons disappear, curser goes away, but background and "task bar" stay up and just stays frozen like that.

Maybe after everything is fully updated it will work right.

No, not on the laptop I'm doing this all on. I'd prefer to use Cinnamon. I kind of hate gnome. I suppose I can try xfce or mate in the end of things if I don't nerd-rage first and go back to Win10, lol.

@Tim_G Maybe try without UEFI, UEFI without Secure Boot, or without full disk encryption.

I already installed it this time without disk encryption. If I have to turn off UEFI and Secure boot I'm just not even gonna follow through with this.

On my laptop, I don't even think I can legacy boot. I don't remember seeing an option to turn off UEFI.

I'll give Korora Gnome a shot, then Fedora 25 Gnome. If either are successful I'll update my original posts.
