Not even Microsoft cares about Windows Mobile

@Tim_G Can you expect the Surface Phone to be 'better' than WinMobile? Will MS just develop it then abandon it like it has done with WinMobile, Zune, RT, countless other things in the last 5-10 years? I hope so. Ive gone 37 years without giving Apple money. Would like that to continue. If Surface phone is abandoned 3 months after release ill be going back to flip phones.

@momurda Oh the zune I loved the zune.

From what I understand, Surface Phone will still run Win10 Mobile, but, will also run standard Windows apps using some kind of Win32 or whatever emulation when docked. Would be cool if it ran them any time, but still... it'll be a very nice phone, and it will run my preferred Phone OS, Win10 Mobile. So either way, it's a win for me.
If all fails, I'm torn between the Asus Zenfone Deluxe and Zoom.

I still have my ZuneHD. Can't do anything with it though since I don't have any Windows machines any more.

I've been on Windows Phone/Mobile for a long time, and I really loved it. Using the other OSes was painful in comparison (and at times still is), but my next phone is probably going to be Android. W10M is not being pushed forward by Microsoft in any meaningful way. I can live without the apps because I don't use them, but the lack of improvement is going to push me off the platform.
I'm looking at going to iOS. I've used several droids and I haven't been impressed. I also want security updates for longer than 2 years.
Windows phone filled a niche in between Android and iOS. That was its greatest strength and its greatest weakness

I'm either going to hold out for the "Surface Phone" if it's anything like I'm expecting, or if not, then most likely an Asus Android phone.
I held out for W10M... not worth it IMO.
So I'm not holding out for their next trick. -

I did consider a flip phone. Can't find one with a decent camera and I like the touchscreen keyboards too much.

See, I felt that Windows Phone when I tried it was beyond Android from the iOS perspective. Android is the happy middle ground to me, Windows Phone was the wild west of disaster.

I really miss my Blackberry's keyboard. I like tactile keyboards with physical keys.

I'm hoping to get a secondary Android this year, as a second phone I think that it would be ideal for me. I'm considering the Asus ZenFone Go and the ZenPhone 3 Zoom. The dual SIM card thing is a huge factor for me. As is the crazy long battery life.

I loved my blackberry curve. One of the best phones I've ever had.... that and the razor flip phone. I could happily go back to either one if I needed to.
-
I never had the Curve, but had something contemporary to it.
-
@dominica had a pink one, back when that stuff was really rare.

Oh well, time to start saving for a new phone.

Yes, very disappointing, but not surprising.
-
I liked the Windows Phone interface. I had one years ago. I think it was Windows Phone 7 back then. However, I was reading this thread to a co-worker and couldn't stop laughing when I was telling him Microsoft's decision.

Something like that.
