So can't seem to find a way to do this, even with the VM powered off and entering in the reduced size doesn't do this.

I can increase without issue, but not decrease.

You cant do this directly in XS.
What if your reduction in size would cut off some of the needed data on the server (not all data is on contiguous blocks).

From what I've read and experienced with resizing virtual disk in XenServer. It's more easier to just create a new disk that is smaller and move the data over.

Do you mean that it's a thin provision disk and you just want to shrink it back down to what's currently used?

@momurda yeah... I thought about that as well.

@black3dynamite That is what I was reading as well as a solution to this.

@JaredBusch No our systems are thick provisioned, so looking to drop the "physical" size. But I don't believe I'll be able to.

No. I don't think that you can.

You might be able to. Since its ext3 you have to shrink the filesystem first and then shrink the logical volume.

Never tried it but since you are using thick instead of thin provision. Maybe you can shrink the disk using lvresize.

Don't know if it'll be worth the effort to try. Might just create a new drive (at the smaller scale) and copy the data over.
