Why do you need a tag? You only use tags when you have a regular grouping of topics. If you want to find a specific thread, just search for it. This is likely the first hit of a thread with "birthday" in the title, for example. I think we've moved from tagging topics to trying to use tags as shortcut links to individual topics instead of using the systems already in place for them. I've seen some pretty dubious tags showing up recently that suggest this.

Most of us know how useless search is around here. I generally skip it and go directly to tags.

Don't confuse me preaching "proper use of tags" with me saying "use tags for everything". I'm still preaching the same thing "proper use of tags."
Search is awful, but does work just fine for things like this. Tags are not a search replacement. If we tagged every birthday topic with birthday, tags would be far less useful than the search functionality.

Too old to remember exactly, but I know that I'm still younger than you.
I believe you are a year or two younger than me, I actually knew this fact a year ago. Just washed away the details with alcohol.
