huh, maybe it's my general lack of use of Skype, but it is running, it just doesn't crash on me these days.
Mine doesn't entirely crash. But it will freeze for several minutes at a time.
LOL mine crashed last night while talking to art

Is this Skype or Skye for Business for Linux?
I assume the generic Skype, and the question I have is why wasn't this already a feature?
Skype

Mine doesn't crash on Linux either. It's still a steaming pile, though.

I really wish they would fix Skype for Windoze. Pretty tired of it crashing a time or four during the day, and keeps telling me there is an update available, but the update fails...
Ah, there is your problem. Windows. You know, @art_of_shred and @Minion-Queen claim that Skype on Windows is so good of an experience and no issues and that all the issues are on the Linux side. I thought that that sounded too good to be true.

We don't have any issues. Maybe once every 3 months I might have to restart the app cause it starts acting weird and might be looking for an update. I don't consider that outside the realm of stable functionality. As far as whatever other things Gene has going on that might make his system/apps unstable and cause his Skype to crash... I can't answer that. He likes to dabble with Linux and had a dual-boot setup last I knew.

Skype has already crashed once this morning... Ugh.
I might just see if I have a clear drive and Linux it. Won't be a SSD - but have to see...Hmm (mumbles something about running STEAM on Linux,...)

Gene - what other software do you have installed on Windows ?
Might be super painful, but flush that system, reinstall Win10 1607, install Skype and the bare software you need to work... and see how it goes.

Also of note, I get a daily notice that there is an update for Skype. If I try to run it, it fails - can't seem to figure out the UserName -
At which point I have to manually do it.

So you get this daily, you install daily, yet you still get it daily?

No - at this point, I ignore it. I tried to set so that it doesn't check, but since it crashes, it doesn't retain the setting.

Just set to NOT check, exited, and on restart, it checked for updates.
