I'll bet the girl from Panama was amazed by our "canal".
Ours outranks hers in length by a staggering degree and is considered more influential in world history.
Odd, not mentioned here? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_canal#Important_ship_canals

Odd, the US made both and considered Erie more important, and the government made Panama, only the state made Erie.
Erie built the entire US.

Those are ship canals, Erie was a barge canal. So a category that isn't included there. But one that was more influential (it developed the whole of North America west of the original colonies.)

Yep, they've restored a small section of the Walhonding canal in Coshocton, OH (15 miles from where I work.) It's an eye opening ride "smoothest ride man has ever created" is right.

For those going to Letchworth stay dry and careful -

SO my weekend turned into take care of sick kids weekend, the 3 year old spiked a 102 fever, then the 1 year old got it and the associated runs. Didn't' get to the Science Museum as planned, but the good new is my birthday weke-end is Dino Rama weekend so taking the kids then.
This weekend is fun-at-home weekend as we are re-arranging the basement. While it sound horrible it does mean that FINALLY going to get some SPACE so I can hopefully get the lab up and running! -

So who's throwing the party at your house if you aren't there?

This doesn't happen at other people's homes? This was a constant thing at my parents. People would just show up out of the blue and you'd get home to 5 or 10 cars in the driveway.

Seriously? that just seems weird - aka you trust people to much with keys/security codes to you house.

Keys? Security Codes? We literally didn't have keys to any of the doors in our house growing up. It was a brand new construction too.
