It's like dating. No woman wants you when you are single, get a girlfriend and every girl wants you.

I'm not sure how to take that...

It typically takes 1.5-2 months from posting a resume to start getting nibbles. I'm not quite sure why that is, but it is.
-
because it takes time for folks to see the resume.
-
And time for them to go through them and get around to responding.
-
Does the old-fashioned process of advertising a vacancy and then having candidates apply no longer exist? Do employers now have to find employees rather than vice versa? I posted a vacancy on one of the UK leading job sites last week and have basically had zero response.
-
Why, if that's the way it works, haven't guys figured out how to beat the system? Just date any girl that comes along and is desperate enough to date you. Then, dangle her like bait so the other girls get curious and move in closer. Then, grab one of them. Could it be that simple? Have I just unwittingly unlocked one of the secret hacks of the universe?

This was my policy at school. It didn't lead to any other girls though.
-
Maybe it becomes obvious when you're doing it intentionally.

That's fairly accurate. When there were fewer job sites, it was easier to search them all and apply directly. There's always a company's own site, but those positions usually attract people interested in the company more so than people qualified for the positions. Now, with a dilution in job sites, it's hard for candidates to find the right listings. This is why recruiters are popular. It's becoming common for a company to partner up with a recruiting firm to find candidates for their open positions. I've seen the positive impact that doing so can have on a company.

Been there, done that, and it got way complicated.

After today, I am thinking very hard that I may need to be looking, and not as casually as I have been.

Forward me some of those emails

A bit of note - You haven't been there for all too long. Unless you're a project-based or contract worker, short hops lend to look bad on resumes.

I am aware of this. Working to make sure it's not out of my control if it is a short-hop. Long story...

They get jealous because they are always comparing each others boyfriends on who's better. The ones that reject you initially are the worst.

No, you might have just unlocked time on the couch
