ZeroTier Controller
-
Did anyone manage to setup own controllers? I would like to setup but couldn't find much info on this
-
@Ambarishrh I think a few of us tried but it ended up being a huge pain and the monthly payments were low enough to justify not doing it.

What @wirestyle22 said.
They have adjusted their free tier, so that you now have up to 100 devices per network before they charge you.
But after that, it is $29 per month unless you already have a paid account with them.
You can set up your own controller, but it is not easy at all to manage. I had some scripts to help with this at one point, but I'm not sure where they're at at the moment.

I just wanted to try the setup without depending on Zerotier. Just out of curiosity!

Hah. We all did. Then we made the actual attempt. I'll try again when I have the time.

Here's the long thread about it from when I originally set it up...

We recently improved our docs on this: https://github.com/zerotier/ZeroTierOne/tree/master/controller

Thanks for the update!

@adam.ierymenko if you run your own controller do you get all same features as you would with using the hosted controller?
