It depends on the topic. My brain has tuned itself to skip long blurbs -- especially if it looks like the same blurb I read three pages ago, lol.

Just because a few of us are inclined to reply in responses closer to short stories than forum posts... (in old geezer voice) Why I tell ya, these young whipersnappers don't know what's good for em."

There is a certain amount of "answer quickly" and then "explain later if there needs to be more."

So as a thread goes on it turns from "answer a question" into "explain the answer" in many cases. And if there is additional conversation or confusion in the thread the longer it goes the more likely that people are trying to explain something rather than answer something.

I find that unless I start into a post within an hour or two of it beginning I often can't (or don't care enough) to read through the monster walls of text y'all are capable of generating on any god damn topic you'd care to name lol

@MattSpeller exactly. If I was away from my desk when a thread was started, I'll never be able to catch up.

                      I tl;dr some threads.
Some are read OP, read last page of comments... are they on a similar track?
                      Yes, then commenting is possible
                      No, then ctrl + F4

I've been told I'm to old to change my ways now, and I ramble a lot.

Usually, this can be easily explained. If a topic is a request for help, then the early posts are trying to pinpoint what's wrong. Then, the longer it takes to narrow down the issue, the more specific the questions get and the more complex the proposed solutions.

Basically it indicates a shift from the OP explaining what was posted to the non-OPs explaining what is needed.
