Yes. She doesn't eat cake, but I do!

Happy birthday @Minion-Queen! Now I get to spend the next 5 weeks reminding you that you're a whole year older than me.

It was November 8, 2012. I had recently started a new job and also just started back at Staples. It was in Auburn, NY with @Mike-Davis at Beardsley Architects + Engineers. This was a historic day in my life, and from this day on my life was never the same. Why? Because this was the first day I met Danielle Ralston, the infamous (yes, infamous) @Minion-Queen .
It was a Spicecorps meetup. I believe it was Skillsoft that sponsored the meeting that night. After I finished listening to the presentation, I wanted to meet this woman I'd seen so much online. The one who worked with @scottalanmiller , @Dominica (aka Wife of SAM), Jeremy Richardson and a few others. We started talking and she gave me a business card and told me to send her my resume.
That night, I went home and did just that. The next night we talked on the phone for forty-five minutes and she told me that if I was interested in working with NTG to let her know. I told her "let me think about it", waited about five seconds, and said "I'm in!" She was quite surprised by it but she seemed excited by my enthusiasm.
How little did I know that this seemingly simple meeting would result in a chain of events that would shake me to my very core and completely flip my entire world upside down. NTG part-time, to full-time, to Texas, to life-changing decisions, and so much more. It all can be traced back, directly, to the Spicecorps of Syracuse, NY on November 8, 2012.
Danielle never was just a boss. She was, and still is, a mentor, both in work and in life. She is one of my closest and dearest friends. She's my big sister that I never had. I'm honored to call her a friend. So on this day, of January the 9th, (which also happens to be my mother's birthday...weird right?!), I wanted to take a moment to wish her a most auspicious and happy birthday. On this day, an undisclosed number of years ago, a truly amazing person entered the world, and the world is better for it.
Thank you for helping me along the way in my journey, and may we continue to have many more decades of dear friendship. Love you Danielle!!
