For starters, that is the most confusing thing ever. But are you sure? They made a point hat the existing RX drives are switching to RZ drives. So to make things even more confusing than changing the name of Green to Blue they are going to make the Blue drives have the Green product labels?

Why don't they juts rebrand the drives as a single color: Bluegreen.

WD Aquamarine

WD Slow
WD High FailureThat's what they should rename the lines to, makes it easy for the consumer.
-
I'm still waiting for WD's SSD line "Bigger & Blacker"
-
WD.... once you go Black.
-
perhaps WD have realized that their "green" drive got so much flak for being - crap - they are trying to rebrand - again
green = slow, slow and slow
blue = rubbishy
black = the only one you should buy
who knows what will happen next. they should just go back to making decent drives, instead of cheap rubbish -
I've actually had very good luck with the Green, Red and RE drives.

WD Green are slow, no doubt. But I don't know of anyone who has had issues with them. Of course, being slow, they are generally more reliable simply due to the fact that they do not have to move as fast and will not wear out as quickly.

Just in case any of you were wondering, the WD vendor page on SW posted this:
https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1265694-don-t-buy-the-wrong-hard-driveYouTube link from their very thin post:

Just putting it out there, WhatzHisFace (chap in the video) mentions RAID 5 in a positive manner for spinning rust drives.

WD's own devices use RE drives in RAID 5.

I'd still pass.
Yeah, it is less than an ideal design, especially when they could easily have made R6 and R10 options.
